At the end of the kids’ class yesterday, The Professor had me roll with Brooklynn, and I don’t know if I tweaked something during that roll, but when we started the warm-ups in the adult class, my hip was causing me pain. I finished the warm-ups, and did the drilling, but I ended up sitting out of rolling (sad face). My hip is feeling better today, so hopefully it’s nothing, because I want to be able to participate in the all-school training session and belt promotion at LBJJC on Saturday! I’m operating under the assumption that I won’t be getting a stripe (I’m convinced I’ll be a one-stripe blue belt for the rest of my life, and I’m okay with that!), but I would like to see my teammates and the kids getting promoted, so even if I can’t join in the training, I’ll still attend.
Lincoln BJJ has now been open for two years, and it continues to grow and evolve. I can’t even keep track of all the new students’ names anymore, because there are so many of them! It’s been great to see BJJ expand in our school and our city, especially since when I started training in the grappling program at the dojo six years ago, there were no Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools in Lincoln, and only a couple in the entire state. I’m not sure how many there are now (because I can’t keep track of all of them, either), but it seems like BJJ has been flourishing in Nebraska, and I couldn’t be happier!
