“Those who are victorious plan effectively and change decisively. They are like a great river that maintains it’s course but adjusts it’s flow…they have form but are formless. They are skilled in both planning and adapting and need not fear the result of a thousand battles: for they win in advance, defeating those who have already lost.” -Sun Tzu
The IBJJF Chicago Open is taking place this weekend, and although my teammates who are competing probably will not have to face a thousand battles, I thought that quote was fitting. This tournament is the first time Lincoln Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Center is sending a team out of state to compete, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I’m a fan of all of them!
This will also be The Professor’s first competition in about seven years, and his first one as a black belt, but he, and his students, shouldn’t have anything to fear. I think they’ll be bringing some hardware back to Lincoln, but if nothing else, they’ll be returning with the lessons they learned in the competition, which will help all of us at Lincoln BJJ Center grow!
