Lincoln Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Center has now been open for a year! Our first class was on April 24th, 2013, and there were fifteen of us there that day. It was exciting to be a part of the opening, but it was also a scary prospect for me to leave the comfort of the dojo, and start over again as a white belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I had no idea what the future had in store, but from that very first day at Lincoln BJJ, I’ve been certain I made the right decision.
Our professor, Gregory Lawson, is the only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt currently living and teaching in Lincoln, and the growth of Lincoln BJJ Center over the past year shows that not only is he a talented practitioner, but he’s also a gifted teacher, and a really great guy. The other two co-owners and instructors, Conan Schafer and Jerad Downs, also fit that description (except for the black belt part ;), so I know I’m in good hands.
I think that everyone who has been consistently training at Lincoln BJJ over the past year has gotten much better, and I’ve been amazed at how fast our new white belts have been improving (winning the first place team trophy at the second tournament we entered shows that we must be doing something right!). Iron sharpens iron, and with so many talented people pushing each other, we can’t help but constantly improve (even me ;).
No matter how good the instruction and training are, I would not want to be a part of LBJJC if I didn’t enjoy it there. We work hard and take our training seriously, but we also have a lot of fun while we’re doing it. I didn’t think it was possible, but training at Lincoln BJJ Center for the past year has made me love Jiu-Jitsu even more!

Learn from a guy who had to struggle and really learn how to do it correctly” -Joe Rogan
