I'm ready!I’ve been alternating between nervous fear and eager excitement over the impending opening of the new BJJ school I will soon be attending. Even though I already know the teachers, and the students will probably be many of the same people who I’ve trained Jiu-Jitsu with for the past four years, it’s still a big step for me to train outside of the dojo, especially since I’ve been there for eight years.

It’s not like I’m leaving the dojo, I’m still welcome to train there in any of the classes (except for Jiu-Jitsu), but it will be different training somewhere else, outside of my comfort zone. I would train Jiu-Jitsu at both places if I could, and I have been going to as many Jiu-Jitsu classes at the dojo as I can lately, so it will be weird when I can’t.

I’m anxious to find out more details about the school, since I still don’t know very much. I did learn the location, and I was happy to find out that it’s even a little bit closer to my house than the dojo! I should be able to make it there in ten minutes, five if I speed (if Ofc. Schafer happens to be reading this, I was kidding, I would never speed just to get to Jiu-Jitsu class! Well, maybe for the Grand Opening, but only because I will be super excited. ;).

With all the unanswered questions I still have about the school, it’s strange that the one I really want to know right now is the name. I guess once I know the name, it will seem more like a place I can call “home”.

  1. Hi Gina, Hopefully I'm all healed by the grand opening. I feel a little left out being laid up at home. I'm so excited!Who is going to continue the Jiu-Jitsu program at Roseberry's, do you know? Ken?

  2. I know that Shihan said he will be doing some teaching in the Jiu-Jitsu class, but I don't know who the regular teacher will be. Ken would be my guess, too.

  3. bow to your Master! just kidding. I'll be attending and teaching if and when it's called for. i hope to train with you guys as often as i can at the new school.

  4. Fyi, as I was told, Shihan's statement about not being allowed to train at the new school if you want to keep training Jiu-Jitsu at the dojo doesn't just apply to me.
