The Calm Before the Storm

SpongeBob- I'm ready!I have never been so ready to compete in all my life! I woke up this morning in the most amazing state of mind. I am relaxed, focused, and calm. All the fear, doubt, and nerves are gone. I am truly one with my warrior spirit, and I can’t wait to leave everything on the mat.

I’ll be heading out early tomorrow morning for the 3 1/2 hour drive. I’m rolling with a crew five deep, and we are going to take Kansas City by storm! None of the people I’m riding with are competing, they are all just going along to watch and support Team Jiu-Jitsu Fighter. I am very fortunate to have such great people around me, it enables me to not have to worry about anything except fighting, because they have the rest covered. I literally could not do this without them (especially my Fairy Godmother Kristy).

Having people around who encourage and support me allows me to feel comfortable, and that makes all the difference in the world. I owe it to them (and myself) to give everything I have, and fight to the last inch of my ability. They have already helped me to remain calm before the storm, and they will be surrounding me when I’m in the eye of the hurricane. I won’t even have to remember to breathe on my own, because they will be there to remind me.

I feel like a force of nature, and I feel sorry for whoever is going to try to tame me.

  1. Fala guerra! (I learned this is a traditional expression in Portuguese, meaning "speak war" literally, but more figuratively, it means "take it to them!" or "kick some ass!")
